"These are the records of the oldest Lutheran church in Virginia. Hebron Evangelical Lutheran Church in Madison County had its beginnings with the arrival in Virginia of the predominately Lutheran survivors of Captain Scott's ship in 1717. Many were indentured by Governor Spotswood. They worshipped at first jointly with the German Reformed at Germanna until they removed to land of their own in present Madison County in 1725." - Klaus Wust.
