The Day Book for Solomon Henkel of Plains Mills, Rockingham County, Virginia, kept by Siram P. Henkel, son of Solomon Henkel, No. 1, Nov. 1st, 1835.
Dr. Solomon Henkel of New Market, Virginia, purchased the farm at Plains Mills in 1832. His son, Siram P. Henkel, married Margaret Koiner of Augusta County, and they lived in New Market just after their marriage June 30, 1835. He was age 26 and she was 15 years old. Siram agreed to run the farm and operate a store business for his father, so he and Margaret moved to Plains Mills, Timberville, where their thirteen children were born and raised.
